Most of the songbirds in these pages are rehabilitated wild birds. They are not tame, although many of them are accustomed to the idea that people will not hurt them. And all of them are curious. So if one sits quietly, is isn't long before the opportunity for a good picture presents itself.

For one reason or another, the birds at this particular center cannot be released into the wild, so they make their homes here. There is only the lightest of barriers to keep predators out of this avian park, filled with native trees and shrubs and grasses, with a nearby creek diverted to run through it. Here, they breed and produce healthy chicks for release, or foster orphaned birds of their own species.
