American Robin
This robin is a rehabilitated wild robin whose injuries are healed, but who would be unable to fend for himself in the wild. Still, he's still a good looking representative of his species. Consequently, he resides at the Migratory Songbird Aviary at the Columbus Zoo.

The aviary is bigger than some folks' backyards. It has a little creek running through it, and a variety of trees, shrubs, and ground cover to suit the birds. There are turtles and minnows in the creek.
It's a good place to photograph songbirds. The birds are wild, but they are accustomed to the idea that people will not hurt them, so they come close if you are quiet. It's also reassuring to know that one is not disrupting the nesting or feeding of wild birds as you poke around with your camera.
Many of the aviary's residents are 'graduates' of The Ohio Wildlife Center's rehabilitation program. Birds who are not good candidates for wild reintroduction can live out their lives as tiny ambassadors to our species.
